LAHORE TO DELHI
Lahore to Delhi is a part of the House Mapping Project which was developed during a workshop organized by Shrine Empire Gallery. In this, the migration from Lahore to Delhi has been mapped through objects, drawings, texts and photographs with Paharganj being the central site of interacting with various families and listening to their narratives of migration.
The mapping starts with an object which unlocks photographs of various families and their possessions. What all is left behind due to partition is then being seen through this travelling from past to present by archiving photographs and then mapping histories of loss and trauma through this process. The entry into these histories were made prominent by exploring certain landmarks as points of transition from one space to another; as points of finding a house which lies in conversation with the crossroads of a political line. This entire mapping has traced the journey from losing a home and then finding a home in some other space.
